Currently

Watching: Project Runway! Kind of love everything Michelle touches. Thank GOODNESS they gave her a second chance, ya know?! No? No one else still watches this show? Next week I'll review Grey's Anatomy because clearly my TV-watching is stuck in 2008.

Eating: Too much fruit. I'm like a shady crack addict, sneaking off to the kitchen to munch on strawberries. I'm all trying to open the plastic strawberry container quietly... why are those things so loud in the first place?!

Thinking About: Pressure indicators, level gauges, control valves, oh my. My brain in spinning from the project I'm working, walking down field equipment and verifying drawings. I'm DREAMING in P&IDs.

Mad About: The stupid Boston Marathon act of violence. It just breaks my heart. My thoughts are with all those effected. #prayforboston

Reading: Just finished It Starts with Food but it's worth a shout out. Straight-forward, really logical, entertaining... it converted me!

Isn't this a nice pic of the book? I found it on google images. I have an electronic copy of this book but that does not make a good picture for a blog.

Celebrating: D's birthday week! I already gave him his birthday present... but this weekend Cashley, D & I are going to Lubbock for some good better food, golf & shenanigans. I booked us rooms at the Overton so we can relax in luxury on our West Texas weekend getaway.

Oh hai cutie! He's makin' that T-shirt WORK in this pic from his birthday last year.

Craving: I had to really, really think about this one. I feel like I could eat everything. Or anything. Maybe both. But when I tried to think of what ONE cheat meal I would choose, all my normal go-to delicious junk foods didn't really sound that great! And I was like, YES! I win! Suck it, FOOD. You no longer rules me. The Whole30 is magical!

But then I thought of Coldstone Ice Cream and I was like, oh wait, no. I'd trade Kanye for a Gotta Have It of The Pie Who Loved Me right about meow.

Oh baby oh baby!

Making Me Happy: OMG My best Frand Lori and I had been discussing hacking our hair off. We've both been pinning and pinning and pinning inspiration haircuts but it was iffy if we'd go through with it. And I did it kind of on a whim last weekend and guess who did it this weekend?! Now THAT'S a good friend!

Uhm, can we discuss how HUGE this haircut makes her eyes look?! I love love love it and while I know she cut her hair because she wanted to, I'm going to pretend it was so we could be twinsies. <3 her.

My Weekend in Pictures

Remember how I was all like, "oh yea, I'm going to be so productive and redecorate my backyard and it's going to be awesome and D's going to be so proud"? Yea, well, no. Instead, this happened:

On Friday, I got my new bling in! I decided to 'Frost Myself' and get some diamond earrings with some of my bonus/savings!

Although, really, earrings are the worst. They're so fun and sparkly but I don't get to enjoy them at all! So I preferred just looking at them in the box, really.

But Friday morning I woke up to this... D's packed bags :( He was gone before I got home from work.

So after work, K and I took the leftover guacamole D made to my parents' house around the block, since I'm allergic and K is a dog, so he can't eat it.

And traded it for my mom's copy of Mario Galaxy!

So instead of going to the grocery store Friday, I did this all night. Yup. Can you see my grocery list there on the table? I had good intentions but Mario > HEB

The next morning I woke up to make myself an omelette and do you know what? All this spinach, like a good two handfuls, sautes down to just this?

I guess that's good, though. I eat more of it when it's cooked down some.

And then I went grocery shopping. I came home and soaked all the fruit and veggies I didn't buy organic and you know what? The water really wasn't that dirty when I took them out. I was thinking it would be horrifying. But meh. Ain't no big thang.

My groceries. That (plus the two dozen eggs I forgot to take out for the picture) is ALL I bought for a week of eating. 3 types of fruit, 8 or 9 types of veggies, 4 types of protein, 2 types of fats.

Then I went shopping with my mama. No pictures of that but it was the majority of my Saturday. We were VERY productive. And when I got home, I really did mean to clean/decorate that backyard. It was my every intention. And I did go out and pooper scoop. But when it came to doing other yard work, I was like '*sigh* Outside is the worst.' And I ended up just kind of wandering around the yard playing with K. So I went inside.

And then this happened. Woops. So much for spending time outside.

I forgot that D set the sprinklers to go off though and so shortly after, I had a very muddy, excited puppy on my hands. It was the cutest thing, I couldn't even be mad. He loves water.

Afterward closing the doggy door and my MacBook, in an attempt to be productive, I took all the BluRays and DVDs and put them in a media binder and boxed up the cases. That freed up entire (small) bookshelf! Which then got moved to the guest room, so now the treadmill can fit in the office! Boom. Count it. Productive.

K was like, 'hey momma... throw this squeaky bear for me please. I'll leave it right up here where you can see it.' Let's just say, I got distracted by playing fetch, going for walks & rolling around on the floor with the dog more than once this weekend.

Sunday morning, I made these panfakes and LOOK! The second egg I cracked had TWINS inside!!! I'd never seen that before! I was so excited! I mean... a little sad... and grossed out... but mostly excited! I looked it up and superstition says that it means there's a marriage in my future! Hmmmm.... I guess we are going to a Steph and Jeremy's wedding next next weekend. Maybe it's open for interpretation. Maybe.

My panfakes and baked sweet potatoes. A perfect, sweet-yet-sugar-free breakfast! Seriously, I know they sound weird but just try them. They're really, really good and a nice change for your morning eggs.

K spent the day on his make-shift window seat... or what normal-sized mammals call a window sill. Just his size.

After another morning walk with Kanye, I picked up the house and then went shopping with Ashley. D got home before we were done so Casey met the three of us at our house and then we all went out for some dinner.

Which worked out great because I still hadn't done any food prep! So, after dinner I came home and boiled eggs, baked turkey bacon, made up my salads for the first few lunches of the week and then I made these Paleo Baked Chicken Zucchini Meatballs but I had ground turkey instead so I made a swap. I haven't tried one yet but we're going to have them for dinner tomorrow so if they're awesome (or if they suck) I'll let you know!

I hope everyone had a weekend with the right amount of relaxing, puppy kisses, shopping, friends and productivity! XOXO

Photographic Memory

No no, the OTHER kind of photographic memory.

I opened up my Photo Stream to see if I had enough pictures to do a "What's on my phone" blog post only to find that the majority of the pictures I had on there that weren't already posted for a blog were 'reminder pics'. Anyone else do this? When I'm somewhere and I can't write what I'm thinking down on a sticky note and hang it somewhere, I have to snap a photo. I'm like the dude from Memento. I have a phone full of pictures of things meant to trigger memories.

I've always been a smart kid but have been plagued with being airheady or scatterbrained. I can't recall things from my memory as easily as others. I lose stuff a lot. A whole lot. And I mean like, I left my (fake) Louis Vuitton purse in the grocery cart one time, my phone on a shelf at Target, my phone on a shelf at Hobby Lobby, the envelope with my tax return in it, Daryl's Christmas present, my credit card probably about 9 or 10 times. I'd like to think it's pretty typical... or maybe it's just symptomatic of my generation... don't know. Just know that I'm a little flighty but I've come up with some countermeasures.

So I thought I'd share some of the random pictures I've taken that cue me.

I hate getting to the grocery store and not remembering the brand of the things I love. So, this is the sunflower seed butter brand I like.

This is the sun-dried tomatoes I like.

Can mom do this? Pin this.

Paleo meatloaf... get these ingredients on the grocery list.

Ew! Soak the dirty dozen when you get home from grocery shopping.

This is the dry rub Trent uses for his pork chops that are off the chain

Is one of these mine? Ask Stephen next time you see him.

Mom liked this... you could do this. Draw this for her and frame it.

Read Dune

This is how much a king mattress costs at Sam's

What are this? And where can I get one?

Don't forget to tell mom that K can have a little more food these days

Because I can only remember 2 or 3 numbers at a time... I had to take a pic and take my phone to my charging laptop in the next room to set it up.

This is what D wants for his birthday. Find a more affordable version of this.

Everyday Cinema

After watching Dance Moms in mostly fast forward so I could see the fierce little girls dance but could minimize the amount of time I had to listen to Abby's voice, I was out of DVR'd stuff and actually flipped through the guide. Normally I settle on King of Queens or Big Bang Theory. But tonight, I spotted INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS! It's definitely one of my favorite movies of all time, like, REAL favorites. I'll debate you on the cred of this movie. It's incredible acting, perfect pacing, funny, sad, thought-provoking... it's a GREAT movie. And it bridges one of the big, important movie gaps... it's of the utmost quality AND it's one that when I see it on the TV, I nevah evah pass on it. Now, I could go in to my undying love for Stanley Kubrick but sometimes his films are just not what I'm in the mood to watch on any given Tuesday.

See what I mean? A little too intense for absentminded viewing.

So, instead of a list of my favorite REAL movies, I figured I'd give you a top ten list of my favorite movies that when I see them on TV, I will watch them EVERY TIME, even if there is only 45 minutes left, even if it's not in HD, even if I had plans to do the dishes (duh). Because I'm ALWAYS in the mood for these movies.

We in the killin' Nazi business. And cousin, business is a-boomin'
  1. Inglorious Basterds (obviously) - and definitely my most intellectual choice.
  2. Sex and the City - I kept this on my DVR for over a year (when I lived alone, clearly) and would watch it on the weekly.
  3. Elf - The ONLY holiday movie I'm happy to see on year round. Any other just stresses me out.
  4. Super Troopers - This is hands down the funniest 'stupid movie' EVER. And I'm taking in to account Anchorman AND Zoolander. This one still wins. I laugh OUT LOUD ever time. *sigh* Just love it so much.
I swear to God I'll pistol whip the next guy that says shenanigans! ...Hey Farva...

  1. Chicago - Hands down the BEST musical. I put it on when I'm cleaning the house thinking 'oh, I'll just listen to it." Impossible. I end up laying on my floor with my chin on my hands, swinging my feet like a small child. Captivating.
  2. Clueless - This movie taught me more than Freshman Art Appreciation. And yes, I am talking about the Monet reference.
  3. Beauty and the Beast - In my opinion, the BEST Disney sing-along movie.
  4. Easy A - Oh y'all. Easy A is my jam. Probably D's least favorite of my favorites but c'mon! Emma Stone is so, so lovable in this!
  5. The Magic Bullet informercial - if you watch it for 2 hours, it counts as a movie, right?
Not sure where they were going with this character but I'm not mad about it.
  1. The Client List - #noshame
What's on YOUR Sunday afternoon, painting your nails, got eight hours to burn, quote every line and sing every song movie list??
